Irmak Bakırezen
After graduating from Üsküdar American High School, she pursued a double major in Chemical and Biological Engineering and Psychology at Koç University. She completed her undergraduate studies with a dual degree. She then obtained her master's degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus on Couples and Family Therapy from Istanbul Bilgi University, graduating with a thesis titled "The Effects of Theory of Mind on Relationships and their Communication Methods."
During her undergraduate studies, she worked as an intern psychologist at Erenköy and Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Diseases Hospital. As an intern psychologist at Istanbul Bilgi University Psychological Counseling Unit, she worked with adults, couples, and families, participated in case studies, and engaged in supervision activities.
She has received training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Internal Family Systems Therapy, Attachment-Focused Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Sexual Therapy. She has also completed Level I and Level II EMDR training. She continues her education in 400-Hour Comprehensive Art Therapy Practitioner Training Program.
She participated in psychosocial support programs for children in Uganda, worked on projects aimed at preventing child sexual abuse in the ‘Break Dark’ movement, and conducted fieldwork as part of the psychosocial support team following the İzmir earthquake with the organization, World Human Relief. She continues her work in World Human Relief's social responsibility projects.
At BATE Psychology, she continues her psychotherapy work with adolescents, adults, and couples both online and in-person. She benefits from therapeutic approaches such as Systemic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and Mindfulness to address issues including trauma, loss and grief, depression, phobias, anxiety disorders, anger problems, and relationship issues. She also provides therapy in English.
