Elçin Külahçıoğlu
Dr. Elçin Külahçıoğlu Gözegir, PhD Psychological Counselor, completed her education at Yeditepe University, Swansea University in the United Kingdom and METU (Middle East Technical University).
In 2012, after graduating from Yeditepe University “Department of Psychological Counseling and Guidance” with honors, she continued her education in the UK and was awarded a merit scholarship at Swansea University “Clinical Psychology” master's degree.
In her doctoral program in “Psychological Counseling and Guidance” at METU, she worked on her dissertation titled “The Mediating Role of Psychological Adjustment in the Relationship between Parental Acceptance-Rejection and Spousal Acceptance-Rejection of Married Individuals”. In this study, she focused on the relationship between parenting attitudes received in the past and the problems experienced by individuals in their current marriages. She completed her doctoral program with the 1st place in her department.
During her master's degree in Clinical Psychology, she completed her Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy training in the UK. Then she completed the “European Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT)” approved long-term theoretical and supervision training in Turkey and became a European accredited CBT therapist.
After her master's degree, she worked in various private hospitals such as Gaziantep Medical Park Hospital and carried out individual adult therapy sessions. In this process, Dr. Külahçıoğlu Gözegir received Psychodynamic-oriented Supervision for many years and expanded her clinical perspective by receiving trainings from different schools in order to integrate them into her work. In her sessions; She benefits from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. In addition to Hanna Nita Schler Gestalt Experience Group Training, she completed EMDR 1st level training and supervision.
Working with adults, Dr. Külahçıoğlu Gözegir specializes in; Difficulties in interpersonal relationships of individual adults, anxiety disorders, depression, emotion dysregulation, trauma, migration and adjustment problems, feelings of inadequacy and worthlessness, feelings of anger, feelings of shame and guilt, loss and grief.
In addition to various book translation studies, she was a chapter author in the book “Grief Counseling”.
She continues to teach as a part-time lecturer at Yeditepe University Psychology Department.
